Friday, December 25, 2009 14:45 - We were alerted to respond with an Engine to 6365 Hawthorne Road for the the report of smoke coming from the building. E12, TA1 and all 3 chiefs responded with 6 volunteers. First arriving Potomac Heights EMS Chief 7B founf smoke showing from an old drinking establishment. We arrived shortly thereafter and E12's crew stretched a back up line and Chief 1B was assigned as the division 2 leader. Once entry was made to the 2nd floor, Command (Chief 7) evacuated the structure due to a partial roof collapse. E12 manned their wagon pipe and put a quick knock on the fire as well as some handlines from the exterior. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down, crews re-entred and completed salvage and overhaul. Units returned to service at 2030 hours. Thanks to Co. 8 and 10 for the pictures.
